Such descriptive names they give to their initial episodes.

One of the reasons I'm a bit behind with this is that I had to reconfigure my Roku box because I hadn't used it in so long. When I did, one of my services (Hulu Plus? Netflix? Does it matter?) described DLM as "My So-Called AfterLife". Well, who starred in "My So-Called Life"? Claire Danes. *headdesk* Saul really is going to be Rube with a side order of Gideon, isn't he? I am so not looking forward to that show that I may actually blow up the LJ comm before the show starts. Earliest flounce on record, eh?

Okay, the laptop is updated, I have my coffee and waffles (how appropriate!) and I'm ready to do this thing.

The problem with this show isn't so much that I don't like half the characters - which is my problem with both CH and CM - but it's that the continuity glitches give me a headache of major proprotions!

Hulu says their version is 56 min. I think my .avi files run that length as well. WTF does Netflix add to get it to 73 min?

Press "play" and find out, Jo.

George is 18? Wasn't she 19 later? And it's not like she can age or anything.

Toads are not a shout-out to CH, no matter how tempting it might be to think so.

I have a lot of trouble with Bette now that I know all of Rebecca Gayheart's difficulties. Can't separate character from actor very well, can I?

I also just plain have a problem with George's character. Really, this whole "I excel at not giving a shit" is very tiring. Yes, I realize they're setting a character and they have to lay it on pretty thick because they don't have a lot of time to do this, but still... she's completely unlikeable and that's tough to base a series on.

Okay, why have I never made the correlation between Georgia's nametag and her co-star's most famous line before. I mean, simply because the name tag does not say "Hello, my name is..." makes it that much more jarring. You think about what a nametag really says, and then you remember The Line.

Ah, there he is. What a sweater.

No lights for her Reaper.

WTF is his accent? Vaguely southern at this point.

Angels are upper management types. This works with my headcanon.

God, I don't like Bette. Funny, because she used to be my favorite.

So why doesn't anyone notice Rube talking to someone invisible at her wake? "And, if I so choose, I can even interact with the living". Are Reapers just not noticed unless they initiate the contact? This is the first and most enduring of the glitches/questions.

If she can walk through doors and get sat on, how can she move the magnetic letters? I really kind of hate this show in some ways.

Lemonade?

And the way they just talk in front of Kiffany? Headaches from the very start.

"He gets a promotion. A nice benefits package." Not a light show, people. A promotion. The movie fucked this up when they said Rube got his light show. Not that I've ever seen the movie.

I hate those sunglasses. I think the only pair of sunglasses I've ever liked on him is in the "Touched By An Angel" ep. Ah, Mercedes Boy! *happy sigh*

Oh, I LIKE Mason.

9:30 AM at Der Waffle Haus - that's a late breakfast. And Mason has a 2:30 reap when he already had a double-murder the same day? Must be because they were short-handed w/o George. And she'd died a week before when she met Mason? What was she doing for that week? Hanging at Rube's place?

Mason wasn't a fuck-up in the pilot. And he's a sweetie.

And what is with Roxie and Mason keeping their reaps with them for so long?

And Bette's buddies in Circulatory Systems knew about a death 6 days in advance? Oh, there are more headaches in this ep than I'd ever dreamed.

I won't even question how they got to the top of that cathedral or whatever if they don't have superpowers.

Mason's alter ego looks closer to Mason than George's does to George. This works with my theory that they start to look more like themselves as they get further from the time of their death.

"You might change the outcome of events" Oh yeah, big-time when Mason loses the post-it and it seems the only reason that woman is where she is when she dies is because she's checking out the address on the post-it. Headaches, I tell you. Major, major headaches.

block-printed post-its. *sigh*

The bank teller looks familiar. Like next season or whneever she plays Misty?

Goddammit, she even says "This is my so-called afterlife." I hate everybody right now.

Urgh. The yard sale. Do I like any scene of this ep where Rube isn't? Yes, I like the bank scenes. But this one, I want to fast-forward through. Or at least turn down the sound. And I know I start liking Joy later, but I don't much like her now. And why doesn't George lose any memories after this encounter??? Headaches, nothing but headaches.

Worst of all, I am not feeling remotely inspired to work on my fic, which is gathering mould and dust. It's sad, I can't write anybody right now. I hate when that happens. I've written too much Jeffrey to go back there for at least another few months, Gideon is just plain gone, and I never could write Rube very successfully.

At least the yard sale scene is finally over.

I do not think we got the deleted scenes. But at least here's the breakfast scene I was remembering. Not that I like the scene, but at least I remember it. Autobiographical.

Don't like this end, either. But look at all the info that Rube knows that George doesn't; that kind of fits in with my theories.

I swear I notice more every time I watch this.

Do not know why Rube is changing clothes in the truck, do not care. Just wish the scene were longer.

Rube's driving to the scene. He knows quite a bit more than he puts on those post-its, doesn't he? Interesting. And this bit with the survivors sitting around the fire is very reminiscent of the "Ghost Story" ep.

He is so not Jeffrey by this point, and this is only a year or so after CH season 6.

Death is not transferrable. You get the post-it, you get the reap.

And we have the first instance of the budget-busting CGI light show.

I am seeing too much Mandy in Rube right now and that is Not A Good Thing.

Only 29 eps total. I might be able to make it through the whole series. More likely than I ever was to survive all of CH, anyway.
